Clinically evaluated protocol for helping to improve skin barrier function in Dry and Very Dry Skin

Xerosis cutis, manifested as dry or very dry skin, are highly prevalent conditions characterized by impaired skin barrier function. May be associated with reduced stratum corneum hydration and increased transepidermal water loss.

While more frequently affecting the face, dry skin commonly involves other areas, such as the neckline, hands and legs, affecting skin comfort and appearance.

The INNOAESTHETICS Xeroskin protocol has been specifically designed to help restore barrier function, support hydrolipidic mantle balance, and improve the skin's ability to retain water, contributing to the care of dry skin rather than simply masking its manifestations.

Clinical and Biological Features of Dry Skin

Clinically, dry and very dry skin presents with roughness, scaling, reduced elasticity, impaired skin comfort, sensations of tightness or irritation, and increased sensitivity to environmental factors, reflecting a progressive loss of barrier integrity and hydration capacity.

From a Biological Standpoint, Dry Skin Is Primarily Driven By:

Xeroskin professional protocol and home-care products
  • Depletion of epidermal lipids, particularly ceramides
  • Reduced levels and altered composition of Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF)
  • Increased transepidermal water loss (TEWL)
  • Structural alterations of the stratum corneum and impaired corneocyte cohesion

These mechanisms may compromise the skin's ability to retain water and protect against external aggressors, contributing to a cycle of dryness, barrier alteration, and reduced skin comfort.

Effective care therefore requires a professional approach addressing these factors through controlled exfoliation, intensive rehydration, barrier care, and long-term maintenance of skin balance.
